08 Feb Cold Hands, Warm Hearts: Romantic Winter Vacations
Whether you’re looking for a dream honeymoon destination or just a simple romantic getaway, you’re in luck. There are so many gorgeous snowy getaways all around the world, that are perfect for a romantic vacation. Here are some of our favorites!
Bundle up in a glass igloo under the Northern Lights at this snowy destination. Levi is a resort in Finnish Lapland that is partially comprised of these glass structures. Believe it or not, these igloos are actually quite spacious, with bathrooms and kitchenettes in them, in addition to amenities like heated floors. Yes, it’s cold, but if a cozy igloo doesn’t fix that, we don’t know what will. Of course, while you’re not cozying up in your room, there is skiing nearby, along with sleigh rides, dog sledding and snowmobiling.
Unlike Levi, Whistler is more so for the couples who would prefer to spend their day zipping down the mountain, rather than relaxing at the spa (or you could do both). With Whistler being one of the most popular ski resorts in the world, you can, of course, take advantage of that, but there are also plenty of romantic activities there as well. You can arrange a sleigh ride or take a day to relax those sore, post-skiing muscles.
Cortina d’Ampezzo, Italy
Cortina d’Ampezzo not only attracts people for its skiing but for it’s charming and romantic downtown. The town is full of classic European charm, with cafes and boutiques scattered throughout the city. These 18th-century buildings and the mountainous backdrop behind them create the perfect setting for your next romantic getaway. Trust us, you won’t regret this one.
The Barnard resort, Twin Farms, has previously been named the most romantic resort in the world, so how could it not make this list? Twin Farms is an all-inclusive, adult-only, bed and breakfast that is easily the perfect New England winter getaway. Get cozy and relax in this romantic cabin in Vermont with gourmet breakfasts, fancy dinners and evening cocktails. Did we mention there’s a spa too?
Gstaad has been a popular destination for royalty and celebrities for a long time, but now it’s also a popular romantic destination as well. The city sits in the Swiss Alps, with mountains surrounding it from every angle. While there are skiing opportunities here for the more adventurous couples, there’s also plenty to do in this charming town. The city has a variety of nice resorts for you and your special someone to choose from and these historic streets won’t let you down. Maybe if you’re lucky, you’ll even see a celebrity.
Wherever you and your sweetheart choose to venture off to, we hope you enjoy your romantic winter getaway!
